One of my favourite Psalms is Psalm 34. There David ascribes to God many human character traits: eyes, ears, taste, and a face. God looks, listens, sees, hears, and His face shines upon us. Anthropomorphic speaking theologians call it. Comforting words I call it. He hears my prayers and cries, He knows my situation perfectly, He never slumbers nor sleeps. What a comfort this is.

Gij maakt eerlang mij 't levenspad bekend,
ReplyDeleteWaarvan, in druk, 't vooruitzicht mij verheugde;
Uw aangezicht, in gunst tot mij gewend,
Schenkt mij in 't kort verzadiging van vreugde;
De lieflijkheên van 't zalig hemelleven
Zal eeuwiglijk Uw rechterhand mij geven. Ps. 16:6
I agree Jack! It is a beautiful Psalm. Especially in times of trouble. It was this very Psalm 34 that I read to my Mom on the day she died. It was the last scripture she heard on this earth. She listened (even in her Dementia state) and said "that is a nice piece!". May you continue to feel God walking with you and even carrying you.
ReplyDeleteDear Jack, Lena and family, He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
ReplyDeleteBecause he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. (Ps.91). Trust Him, wait on the Lord. He knows your struggle and He'll help you and strenghten you. A short time and you'll see Him and and praise Him in His glory!
